Unexpected Changes
- Original equipment choices were changed in some cases after further evaluation of needs and space available. Cincinnati decided to order the i2S A0 HD model planetary scanner instead of the 2 x A0. Columbus decided to order a Cruse Synchron 220 planetary scanner
- Space preparation took time, including insuring that pathways through buildings were big enough to allow delivery of planetary scanner components. Cleveland decided to incorporate preparation of the digitization space into a larger remodeling project.
- The planetary scanners purchased required 8-10 weeks of lead time for construction and assembly, after which acceptance testing had to be repeated (particularly in Toledo) and operating software modified until promised performance was achieved.
- Purchase contracts were complex and benefited greatly from expert legal advice (particularly from Cleveland) and former experience (particularly from Toledo). This became particularly important when the vendor supplying most of the Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Toledo equipment went out of business in Spring 2014, before most equipment had been delivered.
